Study of The Shack William P.
Young’s The Shack has sparked lots of conversation and
enthusiastic praise. Eugene Peterson
writes, “This book has the potential to do for our generation what John
Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress did for his.
It’s that good!” After Easter,
our adult Sunday school class will begin exploring this bestselling novel.
Come see what everyone is talking about.
The study begins on Sunday, April 19th at 9:15 am.
We’ll save a seat for you!
“All
Things Calvin”
Community Bible Study
John Calvin is well known by most
Presbyterians, but he is not necessarily well understood. Historical caricatures
of both his somber personality and the tenets of “Calvinism” often over
shadow this man’s remarkable contributions to the church. As we celebrate
the 500th anniversary of Calvin’s birth in 2009, we Presbyterians have an
opportunity to reintroduce ourselves to Calvin’s legacy — his
contributions to theology, church government, education, music and politics. Please join us for a Community Bible
Study at Covenant Presbyterian Church as we rediscover the teachings of this
theologian-pastor. For those who may
be hesitant to tackle the works of Calvin, be assured that the intent of this
study is to keep it on a level for us mere mortals… think of it as “Calvin
Lite.” The study will be offered every other Wednesday at 1:00 pm in the
Assembly Room of Covenant Church. We
will meet on April 1, April 15, April 29, and May 13.
Bring a friend and come join us!
Concordia
Bible Study Pastor
Merry will be taking a Bible study out to our members at Concordia on Wednesday,
April 22nd. If you’d like to ride along, please let her know. The
study will begin at 1:30 pm. CHURCH RUMMAGE SALE May 1st and May 2nd Please consider donating your gently

NEW
MEMBERS CLASS A
New Members Class is forming this month.
If you are interested in joining Saint Andrews, or would just like to
learn more about what it means to be Presbyterian, please see Pastor Merry or
call the church office at 724-287-4777. One Great Hour of Sharing Sunday, April 5th On Palm Sunday, April 5, we will receive the One Great Hour
of Sharing Offering during worship.
This special offering makes a difference to people around the world who
are experiencing need.
Many have been hurt by sudden catastrophe—war, flood, fire—while
others have gotten so familiar with need they can’t imagine a world of plenty.
The ministries of One Great Hour of Sharing respond to the most immediate
and urgent needs while working to address the underlying causes of chronic
problems.
The Mission Team recently distributed funds
that have been designated for mission. These
resources are used to support Christ’s ministry here at home and around the
world. Interest money from the Bethel Sunday School
Class Fund was used to purchase $398.50 worth of paper products and toothpaste
for the Covenant Food Cupboard. We were able to buy 22 packages of diapers (with
22 to 48 diapers in a pack), 120 rolls of toilet tissue, 34 packages of personal
hygiene products, 25 boxes of kleenex and 25 tubes of toothpaste. The McKee Memorial money donated by the
Congregation is used to support international missions.
We are sending $360 to the Indo-American Home for Children in India to
sponsor Diason, one of the children there. We
are also sending $1000 to Dr Martha Sommers who is serving as a Presbyterian
missionary at the Embangweni Hospital in Malawi. Thank you for your continuing support of the
McKee Memorial Offering. If you have
any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask any member of the Mission Team.
